Video Summarization

User generated videos are one of fastest growing content on internet. According to one estimate 75% of U.S. Internet users watched an average of three hours of online video during each month in 2008. According to ComScore report (April 2009), about 200,000 videos were uploaded on Youtube everyday and in US alone, 14.8 billion videos were viewed in, out of which 6.4 billion were viewed from Youtube. Availability of such a huge volume of video data entails that efficient algorithms are developed which can summarize the video content so that a user can quickly skim through it and watch his/her preferred section of video.

We have developed a video summarization technology that uses audio and video based signatures to generate a short visual summary of the video in form of a filmstrip. Our algorithm works seamlessly across diverse content genres. It is currently being used in some of our products including Hozaa and VideoSummarize.
